The Athena Foundation Limited is a company limited by guarantee that exists to provide secretariat services to three All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs): the APPG on Fair Banking, the APPG on Anti-Corruption & Responsible Tax and the APPG on Sustainable Finance.

Non-profit and non-partisan, we act as a convener and policy catalyst, building relationships and working towards consensus across sectors in which there are often competing interests. We bring together businesses, industry, government, regulators and civil society to offer positive innovative solutions and implement real change to benefit society and the economy, with a focus on transparency and fairness in the financial services sector. A broad scope of engagement on financial matters allows for cross-pollination between policy areas, such as economic crime and climate.

How we are funded:

The Athena Foundation is funded through grants, individual donations and support for specific projects which are largely delivered through the APPGs on Fair Business Banking, Anti-Corruption and Responsible Tax and Sustainable Finance.

In May 2022, we were awarded significant grant funding from Open Society Foundations (OSF) and Joffe Trust to work in conjunction with core partners Transparency International UK, Spotlight on Corruption and Royal United Services Institute and the wider the UK Anti-Corruption Coalition towards increasing transparency and improving the response to and defences against economic crime in the UK.
